Two-time Grand Slam Champion Marat Safin proved too experienced for Romania's Victor Crivoi in the first rubber of Russia's first round clash in Sibiu. Safin wrapped up victory 7-6(5), 6-4 6-4 in just under two hours to give Russia its first point of the weekend.
Meantime, play has been delayed in the Spain v Serbia tie due to high winds up to 55mph (89km/h). I've never heard that one before. Turns out the wind was so intense, it damaged the stadium. Play remains delayed.
