Roddick Routs Ljubicic, Nalbandian Withdraws

Andy Roddick took care of business against Ivan Ljubicic in quick fashion with a 6-3, 6-0 rout in his first round-robin match at the AAMI Classic. The live stream I posted yesterday didn't work for most of the match, so I didn't get to see what happened. Apparently, however, Jimmy Connors was in the stands, so the rumors that they were no longer working together have proven false.

In today's other matches, Marcos Baghdatis beat Nikolay Davydenko 6-3, 4-6, 6-1; Marat Safin dismissed Andy Murray 6-1, 6-4; and Fernando Gonzalez got a walkover when David Nalbandian withdrew from the event with a back injury. Just when the Argentine looked poised to do damage at a Slam, he suffers another injury. Now, his participation at the Australian Open is in doubt.
