The Hypnotist

Andy Murray delivered a beat down to Andy Roddick 6-4, 6-2 in the ExxonMobil final to successfully defend his title. He played superb tennis from beginning to end, offering an answer for everything Roddick threw at him, which wasn't much because Andy kept asking the same questions.
You know. The panicky, stubborn, come-to-the-net-behind-nothing approach shots just because he doesn't know what else to do. I kept wondering why he didn't start hitting the crap out of the ball on every shot to disrupt the rhythm of the match, or drawing Murray to the net against his own terms. Or moonballing. I mean, if you're gonna lose...
The mind is a terrible thing to lock up.
Aside from his impeccable skills -- some of the catty exchanges at the net were spectacular -- Murray's biggest talent may be his ability to lure players into playing the match on his terms. Like a hypnotist.
As always, Roddick was gracious in defeat; Murray, gracious in victory.
