Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis visited the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg on Tuesday to gain a greater understanding of the particular era of South African history and the legacy created by Nelson Mandela.

Baghdatis, his coach Oliver Sounes and agent Jean-Phillipe Bernard were all labelled as either white or non-white prior to entering the museum and forced to enter through separate doorways.

Baghdatis was taken through a visual and physical explanation of the life of Nelson Mandala, one of the most influential and inspirational men in history.

During the tour Baghdatis was also asked to take the walk of freedom, an experience that saw him choose a series of coloured sticks which represent various characteristics of Nelson Mandela’s life.
