I suppose it's merely coincidence that the white group includes two of the propagandists' darlings and a No. 1 seed given an advantage, yet again, by an establishment uninterested in credibility, while the maroon group features the veterans and the women of color. And, of course, the players with championship resumes.

Are people still going to drive by and insist that these draws are purely random just because they're performed in public?

I suppose I'll cover the event here. But I'm not making any promises. When the establishment of the sport I loves stares me in the face and calls me stupid, I tend to become preoccupied with other things.

Maybe one of our front-page contributors will do the honors (hint, hint), and take our readers through all the action in Doha.

Or, how about a regular commenter? Send an email to craighickmanontennis at gmail dot com if you're interested.

I've got to get back out into the field. Way-too-early frost, family visits, more B&B guests and catering gigs than I ever have this time of the year has thrown me for so many loops, I'm all discombobulated of late. The ground is already beginning to freeze, and I haven't even started planting bulbs for next spring.
